The content of the training is provided by the Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki.
The training is part of a pilot project for work-life-oriented micro credentials, funded by the Service Center for Continuous Learning and Employment.

Competence goals:
After the completion of this course, you will
- Have substantial knowledge on the core obligations placed on stakeholders in the AI value chain
- Be familiar with core procedures such as conformity assessments, registration of high-risk AI systems or post-market monitoring
- Know how the AI Act aligns with other relevant regulation in the field of technology
- Be informed about the relevant supervisory authorities under the AI Act
- Have knowledge about fines and penalties imposed for non-compliance
- Be able to apply the knowledge in relevant work contexts and in your organisation.
- Upon successful completion of the training, you will receive 1 cr from the Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki.
The training is part of the Responsible AI-Powered Organization training programme.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The training is suitable for anyone interested in the topic. Primarily, it is designed for professionals from various fields who want to develop their expertise in this area. The language of instruction will be mainly English.
The selection of participants for the training will be confirmed by the Service Center for Continuous Learning and Employment. After the selection, we will send the applicants an email with information about the selection and instructions for the next steps.
The number of participants is limited.
CONTENT AND SCHEDULE
The course will start with a general overview of the AI Act, to accommodate participants that have not attended the sessions of Module 1. It will then address the obligations of stakeholders in the AI value chain for AI systems in different risk categories. In addition, core procedures such as conformity assessment, fundamental rights impact assessment and post market monitoring will be addressed. The course will further treat the governance structure of the Regulation, i.e. provide information about the AI Office, national supervisory authorities and notified bodies, and about enforcement mechanisms, penalties, and complaint procedures.
Further, the module provides information on the AI Act’s alignment with other relevant frameworks, compliance strategies and future challenges.
The sessions will take place online on 18th and 25th of August and 1st and 5th of September, 14-16 EET
SKILL LEVEL
The skill level of the module is 3/5 (competent problem solver / performer).
Competence is assessed on a pass/fail scale based on the following criteria:
Active participation in the lessons, timely submission of assignments.
TEACHERS
The teachers in this module are doctoral researcher Didem Polad (University of Helsinki), doctoral researcher Tahoora Heydari (University of Helsinki), grant-funded researcher Tuomas Mattila and postdoctoral researcher Béatrice Schütte (University of Lapland).
The training has been funded by the Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment. The Service Centre promotes the competence development of working-age people and the availability of skilled labour. The operations of the Service Centre are overseen by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
